Time has passed, and small rose trees bloom with beautiful flowers. Princess Aurora's sixteenth birthday is celebrated at the palace, gorgeous and covered with fully blossomed roses. Four princes from Poland, Russia, France and Spain seek her hand in marriage. At the height of the celebration, Carabosse, in disguise, presents Aurora with a bundle of exquisite roses. Enchanted by their beauty, Aurora grabs the roses, pricks her finger on a needle hidden within the flowers and collapses. Carabosse laughs and reveals herself in triumph. Just in time, the Lilac Fairy appears and puts the entire kingdom under a deep sleep that will last a hundred years to save Aurora from death. The beautiful roses turn into thick thorny bushes that cover the palace, and the Lilac Fairy blesses all put under sleep and casts a spell of protection over them.
