ACT1

Rang and Rang’s older brother live with their ill father and take care of him. One day, Rang’s brother was called in for army recruitment and taken away to fight in the war. Unfortunately, Rang loses her brother in the war and Rang struggles with the loss of her brother. However, there was no sign of the end of the war, and this time Bahn comes to Rang’s town to draft more men by himself. When Rang’s father is called, Rang tries to explain the situation, but Bahn refuses Rang’s desperate request. Rang asks remaining neighbors to take sick father’s place instead, but no one comes forward and takes Rang’s father’s place. As the last solution, Rang decides to disguise as a man and takes her father’s place instead. Rang successfully makes in enlisting, but later suffers from physical stagnation and suffers daily from his cold boss’s demands. Finally, everybody accepts Rang as a soldier with her hard work and help from Commander Jung. On the other hand, Bahn is dissatisfied with his position as a second commander and is jealous of Jung who was respected by everybody around him. During the tough battle, Bahn finds and ignores wounded Jung, but Rang brings in victory in the absence of Commander Jung. Injured Jung recognizes Rang’s heroic action and other soldiers also honor Rang’s bravery. Bahn has no choice but to flee from the army once he betrayed Jung.



ACT2

Rang unties her hair strap and uses on Jung’s injured arm then exits the barrack. Rang prays in the dark night alone, hoping for Jung’s recovery. Jung accidently finds out that Rang was a woman when he saw her with long hair down and he is very shocked. Rang tries to explain her situation to Jung, but Jung walks away with confusion. Meanwhile, Bahn gathers forces to raise an insurrection and starts an attack on Jung’s troop. Rang tries to stop Bahn in place of wounded Jung, but she gets surrounded by Bahn’s hounds. Bahn shoots an arrow to kill Rang. But, just in that moment, a deer jumped in front of Rang from out of nowhere and took an arrow instead of Rang. After seeing the deer that she saved die for her to return the favor, Rang is determined to fight against Bahn. After hearing about the Bahn’s rebellion, Jung begins his final duel with Bahn, and Rang successfully hits Bahn with her bow. As a result, Jung and Rang successfully end the rebellion, but others find out Rang’s identity and Rang is forced to be thrown out from the army. Rang explained to Jung and other soldiers the reasons why she had to disguise herself as a man, then asks Jung to accept her as a soldier. Jung raises Rang and puts her helmet back on her head and accepts her as a soldier and fellow. Spring came along with the end of the war. Soldiers begin to return home and the village is full of joy. When Rang comes home, her father also welcomes Rang with great joy. Jung asks for the blessing from Rang’s father and proposes to Rang and Rang accepts Jung’s propose. Two get married in the blessing from everybody and promised a fresh start.
