KNB dancer Kim Byeol is set to begin a new chapter in her career this September with her official appointment to the Vienna State Ballet in Austria. 

The offer came directly from Artistic Director Alessandra Ferri, one of the ballet world’s most respected figures. Remarkably, Kim Byeol secured the appointment through video submissions and a virtual interview, without the need for an in-person audition in Vienna. 

The relationship between Kim and Ferri began during International Draft Works 2024 at the Royal Opera House in London. Ferri was deeply impressed by Kim Byeol’s performance at the event, and that encounter led to this new opportunity.

“I love stepping outside my comfort zone and taking on new challenges,” Kim said. “I look forward to growing further as an artist on an international stage.”

Kim Byeol will make her final appearances in Korea during the KNB’s provincial performances of 〈Swan Lake〉 in June. She will officially start her journey with the Vienna State Ballet in September.
