KNB and Tokyo City Ballet successfully concluded 〈TWO WAVES in Gangneung II〉, held on May 30(SAT) and 31(SUN) at Saimdang Hall in Gangneung Arts Center.

Since its launch in 2023, the Korea–Japan Ballet Exchange Project has continued to strengthen artistic ties between KNB and Tokyo City Ballet. Rehearsing and performing side by side, dancers from both companies forged meaningful friendships and artistic connections while sharing the universal language of ballet with audiences.

The program featured two remarkable works that reflected each company's unique choreography and artistic identity: Glen Tetley's 〈The Rite of Spring〉, presented by KNB, and Uwe Scholz's 〈Octet〉, performed by Tokyo City Ballet. From the raw intensity driven by Stravinsky’s powerful score and dramatic ensemble work of 〈The Rite of Spring〉 to the sophisticated musicality and refined movement of 〈Octet〉, the performances highlighted the contrasting artistic strengths of the two companies. 

Offstage, dancers continued their exchange through joint classes and rehearsals, strengthening artistic connections while learning from one another. KNB’s Ballet Master Lee Youngcheol's class vividly illustrated how dance can unite artists beyond language and nationality.

The collaboration offered audiences not only exceptional performances but also a meaningful glimpse into the artistic dialogue between Korea and Japan. The enthusiastic applause that filled the theater reflected the audience's appreciation for their partnership. 

Once again, 〈TWO WAVES in Gangneung II〉 highlighted the significance of international artistic exchange and mutual understanding through artistic collaboration. KNB will continue to pursue domestic and international collaborations that broaden its artistic vision and bring audiences inspiring performances from around the world.
