Ballet since 1990, Philip Ellis is widely recognised as one of the most
versatile conductors working in dance today.
Increasingly in demand as a guest conductor,
Philip Ellis has also conducted productions with The Royal Ballet at Covent Garden (Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet,
Don Quixote and Gala work), La Scala
Ballet in Milan (Bayadere), Mikhailovsky
Ballet in St Petersburg (La Fille mal gardée, Nutcracker, Swan Lake,
Sleeping Beauty) and The Australian Ballet in Sydney and
Melbourne (Nutcracker, Merry Widow, Icons Triple Bill, Swan Lake, Sleeping
Beauty, La Sylphide, Paquita).
He has also regularly conducts conducts
productions for the Paris Opera Ballet
(La Fille mal gardée) at the Opera Garnier, Finnish National Ballet (Bayadere, Giselle), Royal Swedish Ballet (Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty), Dutch National Ballet (Season opening

Philip Ellis has also worked extensively with
symphony orchestras all over the world, including the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Hallé Orchestra, BBC National
Orchestra of Wales, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony of
Mexico, Württemburgische Philharmonie Reutingen, Neue Philharmonie Westfalen,
Belgian National Orchestra, Flanders Symphony, Western Australian Symphony Orchestra,
Sydney Symphony Orchestra and with many Chamber Orchestras including English
Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Manchester Camerata, Northern
Sinfonia, plus over 400 concerts with the English Sinfonia. He combines
his broad experience in the concert hall with a passion for dance and an innate
understanding of the musical needs of dancers, the result of many years of
close collaboration.
Philip Ellis has made numerous CD recordings
with the Philharmonia and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and was 1st
Prize winner in the 1992 Leeds
Conductors' Competition.
